The Startup Betting $310 Million That AI's Next Leap Is Simulating Reality

Pack Your Back is an independent observatory for community-led startups, social initiatives and grassroots projects — and a plain-English guide to the funding platforms that turn them into reality.
Our story
Pack Your Back began with a simple belief: the people closest to a problem are usually the ones best placed to solve it. Around the world, founders, organisers and volunteers are launching community-led startups and social initiatives — but too often the hardest part isn't the idea, it's the funding.
So we set out to document the landscape. We follow the initiatives, projects and early-stage ventures working to create change, and we map out the funding platforms — rewards crowdfunding, donations, equity, recurring memberships — that can help them get there. Every guide is written in plain language, comparing terms, fees and trade-offs without the jargon.
The mission is to help good ideas pack their bags and go further. Whether you're building something new or backing someone who is, we want this to be the clearest map of how community ventures get funded.
